I’m just wondering if I could use him in some research for a project (breaking down designs and making my own for college)!

if so, could I also ask if your design has any symbolism? References to anything by chance?

So initially I thought about John first. I am using him as a jumping point of my visual language for these entities/gods that inhabit the malevolent world.

Shadow = unclear shape. All creatures I design for malevolent seem to manifest through this shadowy sort of substance. This can manifest as fur,spikes,tendrils whatever, this is the base.

John is dark with a yellow outline. Kayne is fully black with red outlines. But I am VERY selective with where I'm putting these outlines. He will manifest his form to exaggerate his point or mood so where the detail is depends on his mood or what he wants to invoke. (Sometimes I will draw his smile. Sometimes I won't. Sometimes I'll show his jawline. Etc)

Kayne is mainly made up of this stuff but he /could/ manifest a more human appearance however he deliberately chooses not to. He is inhuman but keeping the shape. This is a costume he can slip in and out of and can literally peel apart. It is not meant to literally be one it is a mockery and is a physical display of his contempt and attitude toward the human experience.

I wanted his hands leaking red as well as his insides being that so he's practically bursting at the seams with blood because he can barely contain the amount. Either because he's killed so many of himself that he's gorged himself to the brim or he simply can't control it anymore. The blackened suit fits together like a carapace,many mouths and unclear shapes fitting together with their teeth poking out. Your mind fills in the blanks. Tries to make it work. Simplicity helps with designs meant to be hard to understand.

Adding onto this I frequently draw him with spikey thorny tendrils. Kayne is /sharp/ all the time be it from teeth or thorns. This was mainly a reference to his daughter having thorns confirmed in her form but it was also because of...is it Humboldt? Giant squid??? They have hooks/teeth in their tendrils and I just adore the idea PLUS it's a great silhouette without overcomplicating the design

I wanted his appearance gender neutral,masculine leaning but the bottom of his suit being a dress is to blur the line as well as make his silhouette interesting. (Also fuck drawing those feet) He doesn't subscribe to either gender and I wanted him queer whilst being simple. His silhouette is important because it's literally the only part of his shape he will care about.

His little curl at the top of his head is in reference to the worm head design you typically see. I feel like it makes nyarlythotep recognizable so it's hard to let go of it even if I don't really like the worm head design.
