Help I can’t stop making self inserts

His name is Bobias (hyenataur), he’s kind of a late bloomer in terms of spells and the only one he can do is involuntary; it’s his shadow that berates him and grows bigger and meaner the more he feeds it with his fear and anger. He hyena giggles when he’s nervous or stressed out, and his shadow has a similar but way nastier laugh.

He’s kind of a goofy wise-ass outside of his moments of intense emotional vulnerability but he loves listening and being a shoulder for his friends to cry on. His general social mask is a laid back guy with no qualms. He overshares as a decoy for his actual vulnerabilities. Even if he is shaking in every limb, he will defend his friends’ lives at the cost of his own if he must.

It’s very hard to get him to feel safe being vulnerable around others. He’s selfless and kind but is very timid and skeptical when the same treatment is given to him. He eventually becomes part of Wammawink’s found family, but not without a bunch of emotional obstacles due to trauma.
