This is rlly long lmao
I've decided against getting a Tula, I'm going to get a Boba wrap instead π I grew up poor, like suuuuper poor. C and I have worked really hard to make sure our finances are in order every month. We make monthly budgets and we discuss each purchase. I was talking to him last night about the Tula because we'll have the extra cash at the end of the month to order it...but I was fighting myself about the $150 price tag ππ I'm a real scrimp when it comes to buying things, most of Ollie's stuff was gifted or bought second-hand because of me lmao C isn't a big fan of Goodwill or thrift shops but I'm not really a big fan of dropping two water bills worth of cash on something that Oliver will outgrow/may not even use. Tula was going to be my exception because when you go on baby-wearing forums or ask a mama that wears, TULA is the name everyone suggests. It seemed like the one thing that most mom's agreed on, so I didn't really give much thought to other brands. But man, that price tag got me. Plus the infant insert that I would need to buy separately, unless I got one of their new free-for-all designs which adjust (and are really cute ngl). C asked me why it had to be Tula if I was so uncomfortable dropping that much money on it...and I kind of froze. I mean, the only answer I had was "everyone uses Tula. Tula is what you use." My SIL has one, two of my friends carry their kiddos in them. Tula just seemed like the obvious choice. "It adjusts so when Ollie gets bigger I can carry him on my back." I said. "Are you actually going to carry him that long? I mean, don't you think he'd rather walk?" C asked. Shit. I didn't really think of that. Some infants don't even like to be carried, what if I drop this money on a Tula and Oliver fucking hates it. $150+ is a lot of money to me. C must have noticed how panicked I was over this, because he looked up alternatives and I instantly loved the Boba wrap. It seemed simple enough to tie, I can breastfeed in it, and it fits the way you tie it - as in, it'll fit my postpartum body and beyond. It's machine washable (yay!) and it's easy to roll up and toss in my tote/diaper bag. I can tie it at the house, drive to wherever wearing it, get out and just pop Ollie in it. Plus it's only $55 lmao I feel like a ditz for not even bothering to research other options. I guess my lesson for this is to still do my own research and figure out what I actually want to get out of an item before just ordering what everyone else uses. I feel a lot better about ordering a Boba wrap and if Ollie ends up not being into being worn at least I won't feel quite as sick over the wasted cash π
