Re-reading from the start he's almost unrecognisable in terms of character. He's still "Mr Nice Guy" but he has some pretty synical thoughts on hero work, and society, and rehabilitation...

And by the end of the series (because we are undoubtedly in the end game now) he's full of confidence! He loves his life, he believes in people and what they can do! He's really optimistic, and believes in redemptive justice.

It's this weird dictomy to Deku, who started out all bright eyed and bushy tailed but is now feeling the weight of the world and wondering what the point in all this is.

Vigilantes COULD have gone super dark, it could have been My Hero's Dark Knight. But it didn't! It stayed hopeful throughout, and had that feeling grow in the reader.

I don't think that everything is going to work out for Koichi. He's, at the very least, going to end up doing some jail time for his crimes of helping to save lives.

But that's okay! Because Koichi won't regret any of his decisions, and hope isn't about everything being blue skies and happily ever after ... it's about knowing their is darkness and pain whilst believing in the inherent goodness of people.

At this point, we don't know if he died and was "revived" by a quirk, if the medics pretended that he was dead, or if his body was used as a "shell", but... if Aizawa wasn't imagining his partner praising him... if he didn't die on impact.... :'(
