I plan on writing some more little short stories with these two oc dumbasses, lemme know if you wanna see them!
----------
âSo your wife-â
âPartnerâ he interrupted without hesitation, a smile firm on his lips as he motioned for the interviewer to continue.
âAh, yes. Partner. How did you meet her-â
âThem.â again, no hesitation behind his interruption but now his smile wavered âYou would like to know how I met them?â The woman in the very pretty red suit gawked for a moment before nodding.
âYes. if you donât mindâ
âWellâ Alex drawled, leaning back in the too small chair and stretching out his long legs, looking away from the bright lights of the stage. âI was not a hero at the time, furthest from it. I was working for some...unsavory people. I was in fact, a criminal.â There was a gasp from the studio audience and he allowed them to settle down before continuing âI was not a part of their group because of the want to be bad, no, I was just another person with a good quirk doing bad things to take care of my family.âÂ
âOf courseâ the false sincerity and understanding from the woman's voice made him want to growl, but he swallowed it down all the same.
âSwift and a few others had tracked my group down, They knew we were trafficking drugs amongst other things, so Swift had come ahead to scout the building out.â A rumble echoed from his chest as he gave a small laugh âThey are very fast, yes. But at that time they were also very predictable, so I stood very still and caught them like very small bird. Tied them to a chair and warned the others I was working with before sitting with the then very new hero to make sure they did not escapeâÂ
âWhy didnât you just kill h-them?â The man was very glad she had caught herself this time. Punching someone on live television seemed counterproductive to the reason he was here.
âWellâ again he drew out the word, looking to the audience all on the edge of their seats âto be honest, I figure, worst case I use this hero as a hostage to get myself out of there. But...They did something I did not expectâ
âThey had compassion. Every hero I had fought up until them were arrogant, they wanted to win the fight, get their fame and go home...Swift...Swift did not think this way. They understood that bad people have not always been bad people, hell some still were not bad people, they just do bad things. Swift asked me why I was doing bad things, not why I was bad. They asked why I did not use my quirk to help others instead of harming. When I explained that the things I did were to help others...They offered to help me.â
âThat was very noble of themâ the look of awe on her face made him wonder if that was near the face he made at that time.
âIt was. So we struck a deal, I untied them, helped them return to their team and gave over all the information I had which, at the time, was most of our operation. In return my family was given safety and security and I was given a job at the company Swift worked for. A win all aroundâ
âAnd that was when you fell in love with them?â He laughed then, a large booming sound that startled the interviewer and the audience as well.
âNo, no not at all, I thought they were insane. I told them so at the time, I still call them Terror because of it. They are My Terror now, but at the time they were just Terror in general. When my partner says their gender is mayhem they are not wrong at allâ Shaking his head and sitting up some he continued, âIt was only a few months later I realised the only reason the company agreed to hire me was that I was the only person to catch Swift without harming them and that I could speak reason to them. So when Swift was sent into field there I would go with to make sure that mayhem was at least contained some. It was an added bonus that we fight alongside one another very well.â The surprise on her face amused him, made him feel that if nothing else, that alone made this waste of an evening worth it.
âWhen did you realise you had fallen for them?â Her words were genuinely curious but that question made him think a moment before nodding slowly.
âTwo or Three years later, when they made a meal for me. I had gotten very badly injured and was home on rest. I woke up at one point to them in my kitchen, not uncommon for our friendship at the time, but they had asked my mother of all people for a recipe to make for me. It...it was horrible. Swift is a horrible cook, you should never let them cook.â That made the audience laugh and he chuckled as well âI knew it was a bad idea when I saw them there, but the fact that they had gone through all this effort to do a nice thing, even went to special stores just to get the correct ingredients...it is silly, but it was then I realised why the world had made us find one another. I ordered us food and we watched some silly movies that they picked. It took me months after that to express to them my feelings, only to find out they felt the same way and had been waiting on me to say something.â The room gave a collective âawâ as he finished.Â
âYou two have come a long way since those days, What brought you here to Japan?â
âYou may have heard, the legal climate with heroes has...shifted, drastically, in the last few months in America. The announcement of new laws and the huge scale firing of heros has left many displaced.â Sympathetic sounds came from the crowd and he had to keep careful control not to scowl âSwift and I had decided a while ago that it would be in our best interests to leave the country and had been looking at work here. When our company became another one of those mass firings we were thankful to already have gotten approved to move here by the hero commission.â
âIt seems luck was on your sideâ
âIt always is when we are togetherâ another collective âawwâ making the hero give a smile in return.
âWell it seems we are out of time, Stena thank you again for coming on the show it was a pleasure to have youâ She offered a handshake which he took as carefully as he could getting to his feet.
âThank you for having meâ with a wave to the audience the immense man walked off stage, letting the crew in the back remove the microphone all chattering away in excitement about how well he had done, one asking to take a picture with him and another for a autograph before he finally escaped out the backdoor breathing a sigh of relief.
âWow babe, that was pretty damn sappyâ There they stood, his Terror and Mayhem. Hair a mess and wearing one of his t-shirts cut to fit them but somehow still too big. âSuper cute overall thoughâ
âYou told me to woo them, I wooed themâ He chuckled rolling his eyes and stooping down to get a kiss âNow let's go find some foodâ Taking their small hand in his he stepped to move growing confused when his partner did not move with him âSk-â
âThank youâ it was uncharacteristically quiet when they spoke, making him pause and give them time to continue ânot just for being face on this but like...making sure she got it right...I came outside and watched from my phone because she kept effing it up.â He hadnât noticed how red their eyes were, or how smudged their eyeliner was until that moment.
âPtichkaâ He hummed the word more than saying it, drawing his love into his arms âof course I would correct her, if not for the cameras and crowd I would have punched herâ The man gave a chuckle kissing the top of their head âhonestly if she messed up again I probably would have punched her anywayâ that got him the small laugh he was searching for.
âLove you Lexiâ He groaned rolling his eyes forcefully
âAll these years and you still call me this. I ask so nicely even for you to stopâ the other hero cackled in delight getting even louder as he scooped them up and tossed them over his shoulder âI give up trying to make you happy, it is time for food.â he walked in silence for a bit just enjoying his partners giggles and laughs at being carried before setting them down so they wouldnât receive more puzzled looks from strangers on the street.
âAlexâ they tugged him down to steal a small kiss âbut no really, I love youâ
âI love you too Skylarâ He smiled one of his rare warm smiles before taking their hand once more and continuing to walk with them.Â
