victoria practically swooning about it to cassie later in not so many words, trying to egg her on, to push her over the edge (not that cassie realizes what victoria's doing). cassie clenching her jaw, about to break her teeth because not only is she horny out of her mind about her twenty-year-old med student who keeps practically throwing herself in cassie's lap as the last threads of her restraint threaten to snap, now she's also got to deal with the aforementioned med student twirling her hair around her fingers talking about someone else. about how yolanda is 'sooo nice' and takes 'such good care of her' and it's killing cassie inside because yolanda wouldn't be able to care for victoria like she would, wouldn't be as nice as cassie would, because she should be the one caring for victoria (mind you, victoria is doing all this to rile up cassie) (it's working)

ON THE OTHER HAND, anytime yolanda's on a case with victoria, victoria's always mentioning how 'cassie taught me how to do this suture' or 'cassie would LOVE to hear about this case' always cassie cassie cassie cassie. and every single time victoria mentions her, yolanda's muscles tense and her jaw tightens. once, victoria describes how she's pretty sure cassie's the strongest woman in the department, how cassie would probably be able to lift her or something, and victoria swears she hears yolanda growl (because yolanda is nothing if not competitive, ambitious, possessive, and eager to prove doubting minds wrong). yolanda thinks she's being subtle about her frustrations (she's not) and thinks victoria is doing it on accident (she's not)

thinking about yolanda doing so with a patronizing croon. so easy for me, ‘vadi. does mommy know you’ll beg anyone to fuck you? victoria paws at her to stop, to please shut her mouth, and yolanda does with a pleased giggle because she’s teased enough, anyway—look, there are those tears she’s been coveting.

thinking about… yolanda letting cassie know that she’s the one victoria comes home with.

“you should see her when she cries,” yolanda says over the pretext of reviewing the x-rays that cassie’s holding onto right now. the patient’s been wheeled to surgery and yolanda knows that she’s overstaying her welcome, but she’s seen the way cassie hovered around her prize. a little too late, don’t you think?

cassie, for her part, doesn’t react obviously but yolanda sees the tensing of her shoulders, the way her breaths leave her, rattling in the chest, and knows she’s got her, hook, line, and sinker. yolanda hums like she’s just talking about the weather. “she’s a sight for sore eyes, that’s for sure.”

at that, she pulls back and turns to leave, not before catching a glimpse of cassie’s furrowed eyes tracking her from the glass door. yolanda bites at a smirk and walks out of there with a sense of victory.
