Willie Mae 'Big Mama' Thornton playlist
Just been reading She's A Rebel by Gillian G. Gaar which is a history of women in Rock 'n' Roll and Big Mama is the first musician mentioned in the book. Really good artists who released the first recording of Hound Dog, which was made famous by Elvis Presley. She has an amazing voice and is an incredibly talented musician who had an amazing career touring with some of the most famous Blues performers such as Muddy Waters Blues Band.

Our College Rehearsal of Rock Around the Clock :)
This track is in the key of G Major and is in a 4/4 time signature (85 bpm). I used the Blues Scale in G, the roots being on both the E String and the A sting, and I also used the Minor Pentatonic in G. I play this following the 12 bar blues structure of I, IV, V. This was recorded on GarageBand by me and I play the bass, lead guitar and rhythm guitar and I used a drum loop with a blues rock beat. For the bass line I followed the arpeggio of each note in the I, IV, V sequence which in this case was G, C and D. For the rhythm guitar I played the perfect 5th and the 6th in a picking pattern rather than playing the chords. Also in the piece I used the bass and lead guitar to play indicate the Turnarounds. This is just another quick piece that I wrote for college and learning purposes, hope you like it :)

This Blues demo is in the key of C# Major and is in the 4/4 time signature(120bpm). I used the Blues Scale in C#, the roots being on both the E String and the A sting, and I also used the Minor Pentatonic in C#. This is a typical 12 Bar Blues, following the I, IV, V structure. I recorded this on GarageBand and I play the bass, lead guitar and rhythm guitar and used a drum loop with a shuffle beat from youtube. For the bass I played a traditional walking bass line and for the rhythm guitar I played the perfect 5th and added the 6th. With the lead guitar I tried to recreate the call and response element of blues by playing the A rooted scale and then the E rooted scale. This is just a quick piece that I wrote for college and learning purposes, hope you like it :)
Blues Work
Just been recording some 12 Bar Blues stuff on GarageBand :) Been using some of the techniques and licks that I have learnt and I have incorporated some if the features of the classic Blues songs, such as the Turnaround and the Blues and Minor Pentatonic Scales. I used drum backing loops to play to set the beat but I played the bass, rhythm guitar and the lead guitar in the two recordings! It was really fun and has definitely helped me to understand the structure and techniques used in Blues.
Bought this today to help me with learning more Blues stuff :)
