"Sisters"

hello, my dearest!

it's always a while, with us. but I never forget you, and I never love you less. I'd love to exchange some fact. I've officially put myself back into writing mode, though I'm sure it'll take a bit to get the momentum going.

at the moment, the wip most on my mind is wuxia story, so I'll talk about that. Wuxia Story is a pseudo-to-the-best-of-my-understanding-wuxia tale of two rival families and their personal agendas as each one tries to affect the royal line.

Xie Jialin is 28 and one of several siblings

she's somewhere in the middle of her siblings, and is one of the adopted children

unlike her siblings, she's not super extremely loyal and dedicated to her family's values, morals, and long-term plans

it's a family of assassins. everybody knows that the Xie family raises and trains assassins - sorry, "special-skilled warriors"

she's asexual and as such is very displeased when her father manages to secure a marriage for her within the household of their rival family

she decides to make the best of it and continue her plans to dismantle the Xie family's assassin club and stop them from inciting one of the worser princes into overthrowing his father and creating chaos in the land

this is coincidentally also what her new husband is trying to do, but they don't talk about it, so it's a really awkward marriage until somebody's covered in blood

and then it's just like. tender, but still awkward

Jialin is kind of hopelessly pragmatic, so even while she recognizes that she's developing romantic feelings for her husband, she knows how complicated that will make things, so she just. continues to fall in love with him while not saying anything about it

she's pretty secretive until the fourth or fifth time somebody's covered in blood and her husband starts to clock that maybe she feels something for him besides animosity or at best indifference.

to be fair, they're both really busy trying to stop the assassin's club from ruining everything, so their romance isn't that important

it's just. like. a really pervasive humidity. sticks to everything and noticeable. but nobody's talking about it. great

you can earn knowledge of the husband by telling me about one of your ocs!

I have been okay? Some days are great and some are weird, what else is new?

I AM revamping sleepyfam - I feel like we could all use a fresh start. It's not ready yet and I want to make a new poster and a page on my blog or on my new blog @sleepylovesyou for loving on people. I dunno. I've not really been sleeping and I just got my first shot, so it's been a little frazzled frizzled fuzzy over here.

I have been playing minecraft and spending time with my family. And writing tiny snatches of dreams as they come to me. And doing find the word tags. And vibe checking everyone. And drawing wip title art.

from Anxiety Story draft -1

Aiden hit the couch. He wasn't crying. He should be crying. It let all these messy and annoying emotions fall away. But instead he was hitting the couch cushions and sobbing without tears. It didn't feel good. It just felt empty and stupid and tiring. He stopped punching the couch and sat back, a quiet whimper trailing after his outburst.

"Do you want to cry?" Wes seemed to be the only one in the room, even though Aiden knew Ree was in her chair and Theo was still beside him.

"Why can't I?" Aiden wiped at his face helplessly. "I need to!"

"Maybe you don't," Wes suggested. His voice was so calm.

This was sent a few weeks ago and the answer was still in the bummer camp so I didn't answer it. But now things are looking up!

I am on vacation, finally. My family hasn't done a beach week in years, and we're all excited about watching my 2 year old niece have the time of her life. And, you know, for the rest of us to have a good time.

I wrote in dirt in the doings second draft last night, which felt awesome. I haven't brought my laptop with me but I do have my tablet, and I'm hoping to work on my other wips, namely watermelon story because the vibes are right.

I do wish I'd brought my trace minerals with me because my knees have been very creaky. Oh well. It's taken all the way up until now to recover from my fatigue and brain fog, and I'm not all the way back yet, but I'm much better. I even gained back most of the weight I'd lost! I need to get off my phone because I've got a weather headache (it just started raining) and I took a not-tylenol pm so I can sleep.

I'm going to read a bit, and hopefully sleep a bit, and have a lovely day tomorrow!

little starry night!! hi, baby!

I've been on family vacation for two weeks. it was incredible, but now that I'm home I'm still catching my body up to my brain. I also caught a little bit of a cold that I'm working through, but I'm taking turmeric and elderberry to help. mostly I am thrilled to be in the state where I have the brainpower to think again - about anything - and write! it's been so long since I could. I have so many grand plans, too many, really, but this way I have lots of pots that I can dip into depending on my mood.

I am unsure if the word is supposed to relate but I guess I just make up my own rules. so. flowers!

Aiden associates Ree with lavender, because she’s a calming presence in his life, and the first time he steps foot into her house, he can smell lavender. Ree’s house always smells nice because she has so many candles. Aiden likes her collection but likes her better. the friendship between Aiden and Ree is something very important. it starts the story into what it’s meant to be. Ree meets him by pure chance and then just becomes his friend. the story is from Aiden’s perspective only, and in the beginning days of their friendship he’s constantly in awe of how Ree swooped in to save him from his troubles. their dynamic is playful at times and desperate at others.
