These are species tulips. They flower earlier than ‘normal’ tulips and come back year after year. The normal kind don’t. Or they might. But not as a reliable thing. This is their first year in my garden, I have put them on a bank next to some steps. They are making me far happier than I expected and I immediately want more. I have put in labels to remind me where to plant more bulbs in the autumn. Let’s hope I can remember what variety they were. I bought them from Bloms, who do an amazing bulb catalogue - sort of like a sweetshop for gardeners.
