My personal experience with the course
Throughout primary and high school I received very repetitive English classes, in which the accumulated learning is not very great. When this course started, I was a bit worried about the technical language, because I didn't know much vocabulary of the topics we were going to see. However, during the development of the course we were studying new topics that helped me understand better and increase my vocabulary, grammar, and conversation skills, mainly because the topics were entertaining.
Personally, I didn't have English classes for two years after finishing high school, so this course, like the previous two in English for economics, has helped me remember many things and learn new ones. Until today, I think my skills have improved and I feel a little more confident when I speak. In addition, the interaction in the classes makes this course very pleasant and calm, and the teacher Monica has a lot of patience and enthusiasm when teaching the classes, which makes them a good learning space.

PANADERIASâ CLASSIC PASTRIES: BUILDING AND GROWING A FOOD BUSINESS
Breads provide comfort and happinessâthe inviting smell, the fascinating presentation, the tempting taste, and the soft texture of bread are what make it more delicious. There are numerous panaderias (a Filipino word for Bakeries) offering a different variety of breads. These breads are not just affordable but are also palatable. In the Philippines, bakeries have countless breads to sell including the famous pandesal, pan de coco, putok, kababayan, monay, spansih bread, kalihim, pianono, and such. We consume these pastries every day.
Panaderias here are excellent in baking pastries. Most of the bakeries achieve good quality of a bread that every consumers would wish for. Not to mention the pleasant attitude of the employees.
My close friend and I would look for a bakery to buy something new and freshly baked bread. We would walk really long just to satisfy our cravings. I grew up eating pandesal as my breakfast partnered with a hot chocolate drink. Recently, there is one bakery near to our house selling an ube pandesal and its price is only seven pesos (âą 7.00). We would comeback there every 6:00 PM just to buy it. The oozing cheese and ube filling are what I really like in this bread. As you have your first bite, there is no way you cannot stop it. My friend would question me how on mars I ate all those in just a snap.
Ube pandesal is not actually that relevant in Filipino bakeries. It becomes famous and relevant when the pandemic hit. A lot of entrepreneurs started to sell something new that would be something very profitable online. This bread has featured in different television shows including Kapuso mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS). I bet I was not the only one who craved watching the episode but also other avid viewers too.
If you do not know, Philippinesâ delectable Ube Pandesal is a classic bread roll filled with purple yam and cheese. This pastry is good and delicious for snack or breakfast.
Since Coronavirus disease or COVID-19 has affected a lot of people resulting to unemployment. These people thought of a business that could help us earn money for a living. As the pastry, the Ube pandesal becomes relevant; it could be a way to build and grow a business related to it.
People know that in building a business is not an easy decision; it must be well-planned because the owner or the entrepreneur would risk a quiet large amount of money for good investment but aspiring entrepreneur like me could start in a very small, then, grow it after having a successful journey.
Food is our primary need; the reason why building a food business is profitable. Here are the reasons how could one effectively build one:
Choose a specific type of food you want to offer; it can be pastries like I mentioned earlier.
Look for long term resources beneficial for you and your growing business.
Forecast your business possible strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threat known as SWOT.
Culture-Bound Disorders
Although human physiology is essentially the same across all cultures, many apparent differences in the ways that psychological disorders are manifested across cultural settings. As a result, cultural differences have a direct impact on mental health across the world. There are many culture-bound disorders that are uniquely linked to certain groups, however, there are also culturally universal disorders and approaches to treating mental health disorders.A psychological disorder can be difficult to define as certain behaviours appear as a disorder among some cultures but do not in other cultures. For example, Western categories of mental illness may not reflect universal categories of mental illness. Disorders that are greatly influenced by culture either do not occur in other cultures or are manifested in different ways. Eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia are considered somewhat universal, although bulimia is more culture-bound. These disorders are rising globally due to changing cultural standards, making individuals feeling pressured to conform. A more historical culture-bound disorder example would include hysteria. This disorder was diagnosed in the mid 19th century, associated with Freudâs psychoanalytic theory. Symptoms included fainting, temporary blindness, a general tendency to cause trouble, insomnia, and/or sudden paralysis. Hysteria is not in the current DSM as some of the symptoms are now associated with other disorders. Amok is another example of a culture-bound disorder. It is associated with extreme homicidal violence, preceded by brooding and afterward rage, exhaustion, and amnesia. It is correlated with alcohol consumption, lack of sleep, and perhaps the overarching passive Southeast Asian culture that gives few outlets to aggression.
âKhloe Kardashian Response to Unedited Photoâ
During the Easter weekend an unfiltered photo of Khloe Kardashian was leaked and caused a mass commotion in the Kardashian household. Â For the past couple of months she has been receiving massive backlash over âunrecognizableâ body photos she shares on instagram and other social media platforms. Fans have even been considering that Khloe has been photoshopping, and her recent post essentially confirmed their assumptions. Khloe and her team are currently trying to get rid of the photo and fans are quite upset about it. Assumptions were going around on how the photo was leaked, some fans were saying the photo got out over a slip up by an assistant, while others claimed it was the kardashians sisterâs grandmother, Mary Jo (MJ) Shannon who posted it to her private account. Â In the photo posted during the Easter holidays you can see Khloe with a bare-face wearing a leopard print bikini while standing in front of a pool. In the photo you can clearly see that there is a lack of editing and photoshop. In my opinion I think Khloe looks just as gorgeous as she always does, and I don't understand why she would want to take every last bit of evidence under âlegal threats.â KKW Brands Chief marketing officer, Tracy Romulus stated, âThe color edited photo was taken of Khloe during a private family gathering and posted to social media without permission by mistake by an assistant. Khloe looks beautiful but it is within the right of the copyright owner to not want an image not intended to be publicly taken down.â Khloe was even accused of sharing âunrealisticâ body standards. Fans think Khloe is serious about this photo because her image is essentially her brand. Although, she has been open about her âflawsâ like last february where she posted a photo of her stripes AKA her stretch marks. Her fans are upset she is trying to take down a photo of her actual body and are actually motivating her to post more. Some fans have tweeted, âso apparently Khloe Kardashian is working overtime to make sure this pic is wiped off the internet? Girl, you look good? & normal?â and, âItâs so sad that sheâs so insecure she looks like a normal healthy human.â Fans have also stated how refreshing it feels to see such a ârealâ photo of Khloe, and want her to embrace her natural self. Personally I think Khloe should keep the photo on social media and be less insecure about herself. She looks beautiful, healthier, and much happier in the photo than she does in her heavily edited photos.
