How To Block Spammers IP Address
Only this morning a client asked me to found out how they can block spammers from certain countries from visiting and registering on their WordPress websites.
Up until now, I have been using a WordPress plugin called Wordfence. But my client claimed if Wordfence wasn’t setup properly it could stop Google from indexing their website. I’m not sure if that’s true, but it got me thinking and I went looking for a solution to my clients needs.
I found a couple of solutions.
Block Visitors by Country is a website were you can select the countries you want to allow or block and it will produce a free .htaccess file you will need to upload via FTP to your web server.You have to be very careful using a service like this as sometimes you can block a country or IP you want to visit your site. For example, you might block the IP of Google, Yahoo or even Bing.
Anti-Spam Bee is a custom built WordPress plugin for the management of Spam comments. Antispam Bee protects blogs from digital rubbish. It is made up of sophisticated techniques and analyzes comments including pings.
