Assalamualaikum! Last weekend Ustad Nouman Ali Khan came to Indonesia and gave public lectures; Reconnect with Qur’an. I’ve been watching his lectures on YouTube, sometimes saw his Friday Khutbah on Facebook and Alhamdulillah I be able to attend his lectures in Istiqlal last sunday.
I love how he tells his perspective about Qur’an in a logic way. Here’s the tiny notes about his lectures :
1. It’s not only a set of words, it’s the light. Every single word can be taken as advice, then it becomes a guidance of our lives as it starts to touch & heal our heart.
2. Everything in Qur’an can be taken as a du’a too. It’s the way we connect to Allah (by making du’a). And Qur’an itself is actually is the way of Allah to connect to us. See, it’s vice versa
3. How come “Alif lam mim” can be taken as a du’a? It’s beyond our thinking process. But indeed, it makes us asked Allah to guided from something we yet to know.
4. How come Firaun story can advise us? By making du’a that we don’t want to be die in his way.
But, this can be taken if and only if we want to bring along our thoughts while reciting it. That’s why Qur’an is for ulul albab (the one who thinks).
And how to reconnect ourselves to Qur’an? By internalizing it to our hearts. Recite it everyday, try to understand the meaning and explanation behind it.
