Kiba wasn’t all too fond of the Lord’s hideout. He always felt cooped up inside that place, no matter how large and endless it seemed to be. The word “infinite” didn’t really mean anything to him.

This time, though, he bore a great smile as he rushed down the hallways. If the Lord had allowed him access to the fortress, then he must have heard about his great prowesses.

After all, Kiba wasn’t coming empty-handed. He was dragging a corpse by the leg, leaving a long trail of blood behind. He had made sure to keep all the limbs attached, though there was barely a bone left intact inside that body. The lungs may have imploded, too. Oh, well.

He was giddy like a child promised a treat. After all, he had accomplished what no Lower Moon could even dream of achieving in the past few hundred years.

He did it anyway, that what he did. And he felt absolutely no regret whatsoever.

A low growl resonated deep within his throat as his chin was lifted up. The boar didn't enjoy being patronized.

"Only a coward would back off, just 'cause the enemy looks a tiny bit stronger than usual! And I'm not a coward!"

A fool, a lunatic, a lost cause... he might be all of these, but he was no coward. That being said, just this once, he might have done better to choose the coward's path.

Four long, spike-like claws protruded from his shoulder. He had managed to break them off the demon's hands, and wore them almost proudly, the proof that he had done some damage to the demon before it bolted off.

Several deep lacerations decorated the boar's arms and torso, blood loss preventing him from running after his target. He was still kneeling on the ground, unable to find the strength to get up.

And I just ejected my matrst Audio book over it. The book had good reviews, and the author won awards for other books and about 30 minutes in I am like 🤨😑 🙄

This isn't a mystic cat. This is MPD. The cat and the little girl are gonna be other personalities because one of the personalities is always a flipping child, and one is ways Bible thumping (the cat was Bible thumping)

So I checked the summary hoping I was wrong and

To author's credit they were not the villian, but I am just over the trope.

Like can we not -in 2025- use badly written mental illness stereotypes to make things weird? I mean yeesh, it's a horror novel. Make the Bible Thumping talking cat actually actually be that.

For as badly written as the MPD was, Bible Thumping talking cat is just as realistic
