Being home for a week is difficult!

cutting it close again: three and a half hours until i wake up ("wake up") to catch a plane to houston, then to new orleans; then i'm in motion again, back at school on thursday, hurtling towards some kind of pain, clearly, a schedule, homework. this is boring. who am i kidding, anyways, thought i'd sleep before 3 am. i'm no hercules; i'm in sinking sand. i'm in a memory mire, thinking about early on in our relationship when as soon as the door tapped close we'd be kissing again, and smiling shyly, surprised at how good it all felt. you'd play the game of leaning against me till i was supporting your whole weight, till we were falling over, and it was so stupid but your room was warm and thrown in sheets of hazy light. my stomach turns. my phone's blank. your name dips lower and lower on the list of those recently contacted and it's hard not to take it as a bad sign, as a hand-twist and apart. i don't write a poem but i might as well. all my poems were ever love songs and i wish i weren't myself. when i see him on thursday, we're going to hug. we're going to talk, and then glancing at the frost curling newly on the sill he'll either kiss me or he won't. it's not a big deal. it's not a big deal. i will be four days of new orleans no-coats and beers and it won't be a big deal. kissing is clinical. i check your temperature.
