❝ Okay, so you see those two? That’s C-3PO and R2D2—-you’re gonna see them a lot. They’re both robots, see? Well, technically, C-3PO is a droid, and R2D2 is an astromech, but ‘robots’ is probably easier to understand. ❞
Every word seems to tumble off his lips like water over a rocky edge, and he knows he’s rambling far too much ( things are happening on screen, Mike! ), but he can’t seem to stop himself from doing anything less. Maybe it’s a nervous habit, because even though the room is almost entirely dark except for the flickering of color and light from the television across from them an anxious sort of flutter continues to eat away at him ever more.
Mike’s already seen this particular film hundreds of times, but his wide eyes still take it all in with fervor as if its his first time all over again—-of course, eventually knowing what she thinks of the movie overruns even that, and he fights the urge to bounce in his seat as his gaze flickers from the television set to Eleven repeatedly; he tells himself it’s because he wants to make sure she’s paying attention, but the truth is as simple as the fact that he’s terrified she won’t be interested at all ( is he going to admit that, though? Ha! ). Thankfully, he doesn’t dwell for too long on that thought, as the sight of a feminine figure cloaked in white graces the screen, her image blurred by smoke and her face partially hidden beneath her hood.
❝ Oh! You’re gonna like her! She’s, uh—-well, I shouldn’t spoil it for you, but she’s really awesome. My favorite character doesn’t come in until later, but she’s a close second; she reminds me of you a little bit, actually. ❞
