The midi lift this morning had a bit of a delay in opening because of the wind and the queues were flooded with tourists but in the end we managed to get a ride up to the mid station for a quick hit on a route on the Aiguille de Blaitière - Pilier Rouge called Deux Goals. I led the first pitch and got the route totally wrong!! Rather than going up the nice corner I took a line to the right that had a bolt on the arête and followed that until I hit a roof and went left. I think whatever line this is, actually hits the roof and goes right and is probably quite pleasant. But although I could see my belay up a corner and left, no one had clearly ever been this way and I was stuck in an open un positive corner on the other side! I had to do a really sketchy move left to the belay with no gear and it felt a bit grim! I wouldn’t recommend this alternative starter pitch as the corner looked way nicer! The 6a+ pitch afterwards was really nice but a little wet in places. Andreas led it well even with his sausage fingers. And my 6b traverse and corner was a delight. Andreas did the next 6b which had a pretty tricky start to it and then we decided to finish up the Nabot Leon last pitch as we had so little time rather than the 6c+ finish. Will have to go back and try this pitch when we have an earlier start as it looked super beautiful
