so, due to the recent answer to a black manhwa recommendation list reminding of a certain manga, i have went and read it.
“Blaster Knuckle” released in 1992 is a wonderful 20chapter — 4 volume — short story set in 1885 USA, where african-american people are dwindling in numbers and living in fear because the KKK and white people “eat” them. literally. the KKK and whites are written as something like a werewolf-demon creatures that show their monstrous form at night, which was an interesting take to the “sundown towns” that still exist till this day. not to mention, historically, white people DID used to eat black people, especially children. so, the author seemed to have taken these horrific historical facts and written the in a more dark fantasy manner. solid 9/10, only taking a point out because it was too short with the most interesting, fresh concept and black history/representation all around
some parts feel Berserk inspired and i read from one of the comments that the authors were close friends. tragic that Blaster Knuckles couldn’t continue on for 300 chapters like Berserk did
