(MISTAKES WERE MADE, WTF WAS I GOING ON ABOUT???) About the Burger Beagle 2017 Design
WARNING THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD
Also, I do not hate the Ducktales reboot. I adore the new twists, however I’ve seen this floating around my dash and I wanted to give my two cents on the matter. Further more, I’m going to keep the identity of the story editor that answered the ask censored as well as the person that sent the ask. This is mainly due to the fact that even if I say “don’t bother them” I know some folks will smash the hell out of their ask boxes regardless.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The main problem that’s currently running around the fandom is the change in the cast’s appearance. Normally this isn’t an issue. A reboot is it’s own universe that doesn’t have to follow the classic for the sake of keeping things fresh., which means some or all of the characters will get a change in personality and/or appearance. However, there are times when a character is changed to an extent where they are no longer recognizable.
Enter Burger Beagle Classic and Burger Beagle Modern respectively.
Normally this wouldn’t bother me, a lot of characters go through major changes and I like a good change in pace and plot. However, while a lot of folks liked the new Burger, there was a lot of folks that weren’t very happy with the changes. Enough of a tiny commotion was made to peak the curiosity of the fandom. An ask was sent to a story editor of the show and the following response was given:
Again, this would have been the end of it but then the Beagle Birthday Massacre aired and it caused the commotion to respawn and with new material to go along with it.
Enter the Ugly failure Beagles.
The words “ugly” and “failure”, combined with the physical and character traits, made the response of the story editor sound a bit hypocritical. The physical traits that had been removed from Burger where ultimately given to the unnamed Beagle on the far right. Further more, some traits that today are still considered as undesirable by today’s social standings, where given to the rest of the trio.
This isn’t something that should be thrown out of hand, it’s still to early to tell if this was done out of irony with a plan or unintentionally with the story editor’s best interests in mind. Personally, though I do believe this is unintentional, it’s not something I would strife about. The show is only 4 episodes in and the start of every reboot is almost always a bumpy one. I still love the beagles, both old and new, and hope to keep enjoying the show as it continues.
