"If you would really like to know, then why don't you join me and sit? If you're not making any advances at me, then I would not mind humoring you."

“After being conformed to just one point of view and one way of thinking for so long, I can understand why they would have a hard time changing. It’s all they’ve ever known! They are hard to convince to take different approaches, that’s for sure.”

“I don’t.” Orihime would pause, and though she would not call it hesitating, so much as she would verifying her own certainty of her response. “I want to understand you better. I know that doesn’t explain much, but there is no better way for me to describe how I feel about arrancars. I think your kind are greatly misunderstood, and that many of you only had your lives stolen from you. That doesn’t mean that the real you isn’t still somewhere inside. If I could, I would try to live in a world where arrancars and soul reapers, or even humans too, all got along with one another, and I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart.”

Jewel’s a crusty onion that needs time to feel comfortable around others to the point of sharing super personal things. That’s not to say that she doesn’t share anything about herself but it comes in tiers and depends on her relationship with that person. Jewel isn’t hard to talk to but it is difficult to be close to her because it’s easy for her to detach from people she doesn’t know or isn’t close to (she also has no issue with not interacting with friends for extended periods.) Persistence and patience is key, and having similar interests helps too.

“S’yer name on the list ‘ere, right?” She was holding up a clipboard and didn’t give him time to answer. “Starin’ at the lesson ain’t the same as practicing it. Why didn’t ya join us?”

“I’ve got a few hours ta go and I ain’t stoppin’! I’ll celebrate when I’m done!” 

            “Good thing this ain’t a democracy then, ain’t it?” 

“I see…”  Turning to face him, she stands to her full height.  Hand lingering close to her weapon.  “Kotestu Isane, Captain of the Fourth Division.”  There is a slight pause before she continues, “Is there something I can help you with, or did you simply want to…introduce yourself?”
