*hug* happy you're doing well!

THIS IS SUCH A COMPLEX QUESTION FOR ME. Aw, jeez. Right now: good. It's been a really...well, a hopefully formative time for me. I was in a pretty bad place with my mental health before I left, and not a great one physically either. I was working for that awful racist boss. But I also had found a community and friends I absolutely adore in Madison, and I feel so lucky to have them all in my life. 

Since leaving, I've quit drinking.  Again. I have three months sober now, which might not sound like a big whoop to some, but is massive for me. I don't think I've put together more than seven days totally sober since I was 13 years old.  Sobriety has been a very difficult and humbling thing for me, so far. I am 100% sure that it's not something I'd have accomplished with this much relative ease in anything other than my current, very controlled environment. So I'm grateful for that. 

My writing is growing, and I'm learning a lot. I feel like I'm starting again. Everything I write, I see the mistakes and childishness in it the moment I'm done. Not in a bad way, I just mean that I can see that I'm learning. I'm very, very lucky to have the space and time right now to let myself work this way, this much, without my usual constant terror about income. I'm poking around at different venues for writing, at self-publishing, and at fellowship applications for the future.

can you find some distraction activities?

I'm trying! I'm so anxious that I spent a good hour hanging out and talking with my mother-in-law (which you know is unusual for me). We're both on edge right now, so it was actually really nice to have someone to commiserate with. 

I think I'm going to try spending some time making a new Sim on Sims 3 and build a house and stuff. That usually keeps me occupied for a while, even when I don't end up playing the character :/
