#ICYMIĀ Ā Tinsel & TineĀ #MiniMovieReviewĀ Gabrielle Union in BREAKING IN - thereās a scene in the beginning of the movie that has such an impressive camera angle, I donāt want to give it away, but youāve seen this type of action so often in movies that I was thrilled not to see it coming for a change. The director is James McTeigue (the only thing recognizable in his credits was āV for Vendetta (2005) with Natalie Portman). In āBreaking Inā Unionāsā character has been estranged fromĀ her father who dies while in the middle of a trial for some illegal financial dealings. But he has this sprawling house without any neighbors for miles. The house has a lot of rooms and levels and itās state-of-the-art, so it plays like another character in the movie, the way the movie which came out earlier this year, āWinchesterā with Helen Mirren was supposed to, but didnāt pull off. Anyway, Mother with her teenage daughter and tween age son come for the weekend to get this house in order for the realtor to put it on the market. Unfortunately, a band of thieves have plans to rob the house the same night, having heard the owner kept 4 million in a safe hidden somewhere in the house. Ultimately, itās a home invasion thriller like many youāve seen before, and if you look for plot holes and inconsistencies youāll find them, but itās a great one for talking back to the screen, and you like the mom and the way she keeps her wits about her.
