Sohrab Sepehri...
The weather in the wild west Highlands of Scotland was feeling decidedly capricious. The weather birds had told Algy that the sun would shine, and they were not entirely wrong, but they were certainly not entirely right, for huge black clouds kept sweeping in from across the Atlantic on a surprisingly bitter wind, and from time to time there were sudden drenching downpours of water mixed liberally with ice…
For much of the morning, therefore, the sun was obscured, but when it did burst out from behind the edge of a cloud, Algy observed that the light was a great deal stronger than it had been. Deciding to take a brief light bath before the next cloudburst, Algy hopped up into an old elder bush and let the light wash over him, although he had to turn his head away from the sun to avoid being blinded. As he observed the light sparkling on the stems of the bushes around him, Algy heard the faint distant chime of an old clock in his assistants' house nearby, and was suddenly reminded of a pleasing but somewhat enigmatic poem :
It's like the light, – A fashionless delight It's like the bee, – A dateless melody. It's like the woods, Private like breeze, Phraseless, yet it stirs The proudest trees. It's like the morning, – Best when it's done, – The everlasting clocks Chime noon.
[Algy is thinking of the poem It's like the light by the 19th century American poet Emily Dickinson.]

Description
Louisa Montagu, née Lowry-Corry, was the daughter of the Irish politician and peer, Armar, 1st Earl Belmore and his wife Lady Harriet Hobart, daughter of 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire. The dissolution of her parents’ marriage by an Act of Parliament in 1793 and their subsequent remarriages, meant that Louisa was sent to finish her education with relatives. In July 1804, she married George John Montagu, Viscount Hinchingbrooke, MP (1773-1818), who succeeded his father as the 6th Earl of Sandwich in 1814.
