A very cool image of the pilot of a Hawker Hunter F.6 of No. 111 Squadron (the 'Black Arrows' aerobatic display team), based at RAF Wattisham, Suffolk in the early 1960s.
Unlike today, this was an operational squadron, not a pro display team, despite the all black colour scheme.

Black Arrows aerobatic demo team formed 1956 by S/L Roger L.Topp, then CO 111 Sqn ("treble-one"). One of many memorable feats of Black Arrows was execution of world record loop of 22 Hawker Hunters in formation at Society of British Aircraft Constructors' show Farnborough in 1958
