Bangkok Shutdown Day 19.
Singapore - Past & Present
Just like to share these quick snap shots which I feel sum up 50 years of independence in Singapore.
The 1st picture captures the essence of this tiny island - an amalgamation between traditional and modern Singapore. While Singaporeans embrace changes to adapt to the modern world, we also ensure that our roots and traditions are not lost.
This is seen in the 2nd and 3rd picture. Every year, families of all races visit æĨå°æēģį, also known as River Hongbao during new year, for performances as well as food stalls from all over the world. The elders of Chinese families will take this opportunity to educate the younger generation on traditions and customs, which may vary between different families of different backgrounds.
In the 3rd picture, we can see Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Art Science Museum (the palm) as well as part of the Central Business District area. This explains why Singapore is famous for its ever changing skyline. A fun fact that even locals are not aware of is that these buildings were envisioned and planned 50 years ago, when Singapore had not even gain independence! Kudos to our leaders for their far-sightedness.
Hope that this post brings about another side of Singapore that non-Singaporeans don't know ;)
