Read Comics. Write Stories. Make Friends.
This Saturday, 3 June 2023, Drowned Town Press (that's me) returns for the first time since before the pandemic to Boston Kids' Comics Fest. This year's Fest is at Northeastern University's Curry Student Center. I'll be at Table 21 -- click on the Exhibitors link and scroll down to see the floor layout. This FREE one-day event is open to kids, their parents/guardians, educators and librarians. Show hours are 10 AM -- 5 PM. The workshop schedule is here -- be sure to check out my BCR pal LJ-Baptiste!
There are also a Quiet Drawing Area and a Calmer Space for kids and guardians who need a few minutes to take a breather. And while the usual student food court will be closed, organizers are providing a directory of nearby eating places. The Curry Center is at 360 Huntington Avenue in Boston, MA, not far from the Museum of Fine Arts. MBTA Green Line E Branch stops close by at the Northeastern University stop, and Ruggles Station on the Orange Line is not much further away. MBTA buses #9 and #39 stop on Huntington Avenue, while buses #8, #15, #22, #28, #43, #44, #45, and #47 stop a few blocks away. Routes #19, CT2 and CT3 do not run on weekends. MBTA Commuter Rail lines Franklin (but not Foxboro), Needham, and Providence (but not Stoughton) also stop at Ruggles Station. (Hmm...I only now realized that the cute kitty in the BKCF logo has resonances with another Boston-based comic show that is staffed by some of the same people...MICE!)
