5 In The Chamber: Blacc Beckham "No Excuses"
I had the chance to kick it with rising MC Blacc Beckham on his recent trip to New York City. We kicked it about Hip Hop in general and his plans to kick off a consistent campaign of releases in the new year 2016. The first of many projects, he sets the tempo nicely with his No Excuses. Check out our 5Â In the Chamber sitdown below exclusively via Street Khemistry.
Jason Bourne: So we see you woke up and went viral with your new project âNo Excusesâ
Blacc Beckham: The title was inspired by close friend and affiliate Willie Reed (BK Nets). A few years back he created the hashtag as a reminder and motivation to always âfinding a wayâ to succeed. Iâve been right there watching him put in OverTime chasing his dreams , making sacrifices to get to where he is at today. Needless to say, I was inspired. With that stated, I took that hashtag and applied it to my music creating basically the soundtrack to our life and movement.
Jason Bourne: Is there any special significance in the songs you have selected?
Blacc Beckham: The mixtape is 8 songs (freestyles) all on beats from 2000-2005. I credit that time frame as the era in which I started to embrace my lyrical capabilities and became a rapper. Nelly, 50 cent, Dipset were some of my child hood influences.
Jason Bourne: Howâd you hook up with DJ Amp?
Blacc Beckham: Me and DJ Amp been associated for quite some time. I originally met him while attending Saint Louis University. During that time DJ Amp and Shorty The Kid (106 & Park) were running the party scene in STL as a crew named GCB. It wasnât till I decided to drop #NOEXCUSES that I reached out to him to host. Being STL is where me and Willie met I wanted to come full circle and work with a DJ from STL as well.
Given your spontaneous approach to releasing music, can we expect any more surprises of projects in the stash ?
The spontaneous approach hasnât been on purpose. Sometimes things donât go as planned and things get pushed back. But like the title of my latest mixtape Iâm making #NOEXCUSES moving forward. I consider #NOEXCUSES the âlayup line/warm upâ to the âgame timeâ which will consist of all original music moving forward. I do plan on dropping more content real soon. Stay tuned!
Jason Bourne: Where can the people find you on social media and stay connected with your branding process ?
Blacc Beckham: They can follow me on IG and Twitter, all handles are the same @BlaccBeckham and I definitely want the public to stay tuned to the visual campaign coming soon. I just had a great time being back in the Big Apple and we got some dope plans to come back and put some visual work in. Stay Tuned ?
