On Twitter/X, it's porn bots and Bitcoin scams. On Threads and Instagram, it's porn bots and scammers requesting to dm you directly. On here, it's begging messages asking for money. These three screen shots are from this week alone. I delete them, and more pop up.
Social media is big business for scammers. I know these are all fake, and I've never replied or sent a single penny to any of them. But there are many out there who do. It breaks my heart knowing that there are people who have not only fallen for romance scammers and lost thousands, but some victims have gone on to take their own lives out of shame of losing everything to these bastards.
There are so many consumer shows and YouTube videos warning us and showing us how to spot a scam, but people keep falling for them.
