If I had a nickel for each animus prince in Darkstalker Legends that had his power controlled by his queen, felt alienated in court and wasn't allowed to choose his mate, I'd have three nickels
Which isn't a lot but I kind of love parallels
Fathom is what Arctic (+-Albatross?) could've been if he ran away with Foeslayer further, onto some lone island to live a happy life
Albatross is what would've happened if Arctic and Fathom stayed and let their queens rule them however they liked
And we can see how much of an influence their wives were to all of them. Thanks to Foeslayer, Arctic escaped his kingdom but she wasn't ready for more, so they stayed in the Night Kingdom. And without Indigo, Fathom could've died, given up completely or become lost under Darkstalker's influence. If their queens succeeded at isolating them, leaving them alone under their sole influence, they'd end up maybe as miserable as Albatross, which had no friends nor any close ones as far as we know
