I know Tumblr is full of birb lovers, if anyone else is in Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo territory in Australia, UNSW is collecting reports of sightings. I saw a lovely flock of over 12 individuals last week to report. Their Red-Tailed cousins no longer have a wild population in the Northern Rivers, don't let these amazing birds go from threatened species to worse.

I am sorrowful. I love birds, but I have faves amongst the locals. And near the top of the list are the Butcherbirds (so called because they store a kill on a thorn, not because they are birdy blood-lusters) who have the most beautiful song. In Sydney they were shy as anything and I usually only heard them and caught glimpses. But here on the property they are friendly and catch bugs a few metres away. Anyway, I found one deadibones in the paddock. I hope it was just natural causes and that no one is waiting for him/her to come back with food for a chick. If I were the type I'd know how to commemorate the little dude and turn him into MMFR art. But I can't even contemplate dismembering his corpse.

She sets it down in front of him before stepping onto it, grabbing Thumper’s head to lightly place a kiss on top of his hair.
