apparently, after seven years, some of our wild birds started to recognize my dog (and/or me) because we just encountered a heron who unfortunately stood on a meadow between the road and the local brook. And Rino always wants to go into the water, so we walked towards the heron who just slowly walked to the other side? No fluttering, no screeching, no hurrying away.
So we walk past the big bird and Rino goes for a swim and then we go back to the road and the entire time the heron just stood like 20 meters away. Watching carefully, but not stressed out.
It's not the first time something like this happened, but usually it's corvids, which i know are intelligent enough to recognize people (and other species). So this was an amazing encounter. 😊
