As far back as she can remember, the Ihidauri Krakarda has been a dutiful worshipper of Makuta Shar. Much of her life has been spent in a secret cloister within Metru Nui, where she and her fellow acolytes carried out the Makuta's will while also embracing her teachings of loss, pain, and grief. Recently, the Brotherhood of Makuta (and Shar by extent) have been troubled by the emergence of the Cult of Tren Krom and its threat to their balance of power. Acting on information gleaned from a captured Barramoi, Krakarda's cloister sent a strike team of devouts to claim an ancient artifact of great power from the Southern Continent, led by Krakarda herself.

The last of the Origin Companions, at least alphabetically, is Whyl, a brave Toa of Fire from Ta-Metru. As a Matoran, Whyl trained for the Ta-Metru Guard (called the Flaming Fist) under the leadership of Toa Uldar, an honorable and renowned Ta-Toa. One night, while Toa Uldar was away on a diplomatic mission to Vorlis, Whyl heard the whisper of destiny. He crept to the edges of Ta-Metru, where he discovered a small group of Dark Hunters attempting to summon a monstrous beast called a Kanohi Dragon. One Matoran had little chance of besting multiple Hunters, but there was no time to run for help before their work would be complete.

Whyl's desperation attracted a new monster to the scene: a Ninpahk, a colossal teleporting titan with a toothy maw and unknown depths of eldritch power. She called herself Mizora, and she offered Whyl power in exchange for loyalty. Knowing it was the only chance he had, the Matoran took the deal, transforming into Toa Whyl and using this boost to vanquish the Dark Hunters before their ritual drew the Kanohi Dragon from slumber. However, when Uldar (now a Turaga) returned to the City of Legends to find his protege at the heels of a monstrous Ninpahk and wearing an immoral mask (the Kanohi Tryna, Mask of Reanimation), he exiled the young Toa.

So, this is a thing I've been working on and off on for a little while. I thought to myself, "What if Baldur's Gate 3 but Bionicle?" and then couldn't stop thinking about it. I started by just making Bionicle mocs of the main companions, but over time I've also started thinking about how other characters, and most importantly, the plot might look if it were shifted from the Forgotten Realms to the Matoran Universe. I'll be posting more about this over time, so stay tuned!

Most Barramoi are skilled warriors, training to hone the principle of "Dazivoya," or the path of violence. Some are more zealous about this faith than others, and few are more diligent than the infamous Barramoi sect of Tunarat. These Barramoi worship the Dazivoya as more than just a philosophy and training regimen, but as a holy being embodied by the undying queen Vlaakit. Laezel is one such Barramoi, hailing from the Anazai (or war-band; basically a group of Barramoi) Kilir.

Laezel has long honed her skills against other members of her Anazai, as well as against any foes they can find. They are particularly fond of culling the flesh-crafted aberrations of Tren Krom which plague the western Matoran Universe. Seeking to prove her worth to Vlaakit and her Anazai, Laezel embarked upon a solo mission to the Tren Krom Peninsula, a mission that ended in failure as she was captured by a Kromist airship. Imprisoned by the abominations she was taught her whole life to hate, Laezel could do nothing as she was infected with a bizarre Krana that melded to her face beneath her mask. Now imprisoned aboard an enemy ship with a worrying suspicion that she will soon become the type of monster her kin slew, Laezel has nothing but basic equipment and her training to rely on for salvation.

Dirge is a Kolhaki from the icy island of Konora. His mind is a swirling void of blood and violence. He doesn't remember who he was before waking up aboard that flesh-wrought airship. He doesn't remember where he lived, what he did, or who he was close to. All he knows is bloodlust, an overwhelming feeling of delight whenever he inflicts pain onto others. His past is a mystery that he will have to piece together if he wants to change his future, but first, he'll need to escape from the flying prison he's woken up in.

What if the story of Baldur's Gate 3 took place in the Matoran Universe instead of the Forgotten Realms?

(For the record, his name is pronounced key-lay, not Kyle; it's Matoric for "windy storm" [aka a gale])

Kile is a Layamat from the Four Sisters, a cluster of four islands near the GSR's shoulder. Layamat are renowned ascetics, meditating for years in their monasteries to hone their senses and unlock new ones. They live in close symbiosis with the Kosamah, another species that has mastered the art of learning and utilizing powers (essentially, magic). Kile preferred to study these arts than refining his senses, and in the mystic arts he was a prodigy.

Over the years Kile mastered a number of these powers, called Kayi, when most non-Kosamah could scarcely grasp one. This earned him the attention of the Four Sisters' Makuta Mystika, a Kayi master herself. In an effort to impress the Makuta, Kile located and studied a long forgotten and forbidden Kayi ritual said to have once been practiced by Artakha. The ritual attempt left Kile with a gnawing pit of emptiness within him, one that hungered constantly for creation. Only by feeding it artifacts of great power (such as Kanohi) could it be satiated. This wound repulsed Mystika and she abandoned him.
