06: Confessions... I found this video on Youtube and I just wanted to share this because I remember eating this growing up.
It’s called Binungey (bee-newng-ey*)---think of the sound when you say, “ugh.” It’s very close to that.
Anyway, I haven’t had this in years. The last person I knew to make this was my grandpa, on my mom’s side. I’m not sure why there are leaves covering the bamboo here. I do know that they were covered up with a bamboo top and opened like a can after cooking to let some steam out. Then it’s split in half.
Binungey IS AWESOME! Probably a lot better than suman.
