 If you are a comic book fan and have ever said this to someone, fuck you, because you’re not a real comic book fan. The entire fandom: DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Image, etc, is nothing but a “Multiverse” of “Verses” Which now includes the ARROWVERSE! DC, Marvel, and Dark Horse all acknowledge they’re different verses. The one where Bruce Wayne was killed and not his parents. The one where Scarlett Witch made it where there are no mutants. Even Image and Dark Horse while mostly self-contained comics have done crossovers.  

So let's talk about the number 1 excuse I hear when I confront a “Comic booker/Cannon advocate” say that Olicity shippers are real fans and often hate Olicity. “It’s not cannon.” You know what they whole damn show is not cannon! Lets start with Oliver first off and how he fucking got on the island. In the comics he usually gets there two ways. The plane he and his parents are on crashes OR he FALLS OFF A BOAT. Either way, both time he already knew how to shoot a bow and arrow when he got on the island and there is no list. There was no learning how to like the show says.

NEXT, let's talk about Roy Harper. Roy Harper, the 12-year-old Ollie adopted as his ward, who was raised first by his father a forest ranger, then by a family friend, WHO KNEW HOW TO SHOOT A BOW AND ARROW BEFORE MEETING OLIVER. Who became addicted to drugs and was a fucking clone of the original and unaware of it. Who fell in love with an assasian, not Oliver’s sister, and had a daughter who was killed in an earthquake.

Speaking of Thea, who doesn’t exist in the comics, lets go with who she represents, Mia Dearden. The ex-street fighting prostute who ended us with H.I.V. Shall I go on?

Thomas “Tommy” Merlyn who was Oliver’s best friend, until Oliver got his girlfriend killed and almost killed Tommy in an oil rig explosion. In the end a several year coma made Tommy crazy and he assumed the mantel of the Dark Archer. (Is now a good time to mention that Tommy wasn’t even in the comics till 2012 the same year Arrow debuted and he was debuted on Arrow BEFORE he was in the comics.)

1And for those that say Felicity Smoak isn’t a cannon character at all, please reference Fury of  Firestorm vol. 2 #23 and shut the hell up. We all know that it was supposed to be a one-off cameo and that is was the chemistry between Stephen and Emily that brought her back. Suck on a egg,I’m not apologizing that my girl is a bad ass actress who’s downright captivating. 

The only character made up for Arrow, is Sara Lance. Now I love Sara Lance. She’s my second favorite girl for so many reason. She makes a better BC then Laurel. But she’s not even in the comics. The White Canary is an unnamed assassin that’s not even part of the League of Assassins. She’s part of the Silk Brothers after Dinah and friends kill her brothers.

That brings me to my final problem with this whole argument of “Non-cannon.” FUCKING LAUREL LANCE ISN’T CANNON! I’ve bitched about this since day one. I FUCKING LOVE BC IN THE COMICS. I’m all about the Birds of Prey, but that is not Dinah. First, Dinah is the DAUGHTER of Dinah Drake the original BC. Second, her Canary cry was a curse place on her as child or because Dinah’s a meta. Next, she’s never been a lawyer. She’s been a counselor, a florist, I think a teacher at one time, but never a lawyer.
