Binding Part 8 2/2 “This is my Tragedy”
Celestine's POV
“Mateo, let me tell you my story” Celestine sighed with a distant look in her eye. And Mateo watched her intently. "It all started long ago, your father was rather notorious and like many he had his eyes set on being the next Vampire Lord. So, he did what everyone else was doing, which was vying for my father’s attention, completing as many accomplishments as possible to prove their worth, to ascertain their value. In hopes that my father would recognize them as a future leader, and with that my hand in marriage. Vlad had his eye on me for a long time, and I avoided him every chance I could get, Vlad seemed okay, sweet even but under the façade I saw something deep within him that was tainted at its core. But he was intent on having me, and was agitated by my attempts to dodge his advances. One night I managed to slip out of the castle, and he found me. He asked me straight out……..”“My lady, may I know what it Is you don’t like me” Vlad said quietly “I don’t know Vlad. I can’t really explain it”“ But you could grow to like me perhaps?” he said with an eyebrow raised in curiosity “I don’t think so, I don’t know Vlad ”And he grabbed me by the back of my neck as I was trying to leave, he got in my face and told me that “wasn’t good enough” he, released his grip, and told me to have a nice night before turning to leave. So I ran, right into the arms of Lucian, leader of the Werewolf Army. He was as shocked to see me as I was to see him. But I learned quickly he was an aloof, charming gentlemen, he didn’t see me as the enemy because in his words “You don’t seem to be a threat at the moment”. So, for the next few nights I snuck out to see him and gradually we grew closer and closer, but I knew soon I would have to leave him, to protect him, the one little love I found. We talked heavily about the future once the war was over, a place where we could be together and free, I am not sure he knew my status as Vampire Queen, but I did not think he would care, We laughed in the sun, and in the middle of the night we picked out future baby names under the stars. He had me…. So after he fell asleep one day, I laid with him and said my goodbyes but as I was leaving Vlad caught me, and he told me he would tell my father, and after he told my father he would bring him Lucian’s head, and whether I liked it or not, I would marry him. So I did it, I agreed to marry him. But when it came time for the wedding, I couldn’t go through with it, I left him at the alter and well Vlad, he killed my father right there as I was walking out the doors, a few guards loyal to me, pushed me out and secured my exit. I had to leave behind my little sister, who I layer found out he sold off to the werewolves and that she was executed. He sent out search parties, hired people to find me, so I hid. I didn’t know if I could go back to Lucian considering everything and I knew even if I did Vlad might predict it and go after him first. and then one day I met him… the man I would later deem the love of my life. William Harwood, he was an elven man, of great magic. When he saw me, he scooped me up off my feet faster than I could react, he told me I was the most beautiful thing he ever saw, and I punched him across the face. William was kind, he was different, stood out in more ways than one, he drew people in, captured hearts. He was wonderfully tender and helped the needy on the regular. Time flew by and before I knew it, I was pregnant, William was ecstatic, but threw up after I told him, he said it was bad nerves. And then one day the war found me again and Vlad was staring me down in a garden, our eyes met, and I ran. I remember there being an explosion, I fell into the house, hitting my head, attempting to not fall on to my stomach, in my haze I looked up and saw William fending off Vlad, he looked at me and smiled sheepishly. And just as I realized what was happening the room was engulfed in pure white light and then darkness….When I woke up again, I had apparently been sleeping for a long time, I was still in the home we shared, a makeshift shrine at the point, a curved concrete overhead, wisteria hanging down around me, the place was covered in dust and debris, the battle long gone but the scars remain, William wasn’t there and I was no longer pregnant, baby was gone. I walk outside and everything had changed, faced with an overgrown forest, I went back into the house and curled up on my slab, a piece of sun shining through a hole in the roof. I wept, and I slept, and I only woke up recently and found you and that’s my tale. Celestine wipes a tear away from her eye and laughs, “I didn’t even know I could still cry” she half wept, half cried. “Thank you for telling me this, I am so sorry that you had to face all that” Mateo said and kissed her cheek. And she blows her nose. “So is William like dead?” Mateo asked “I don’t know” he was long gone when I woke up anyway. “It’s just that name sounds so familiar” Mateo pondered “Oh crap, my friend! Her last name is Harwood, she just got married though, I’ve been meaning to invite her over for dinner so you guys can meet! She’s the one dad’s been losing his shit over he beat her up badly” Mateo rambled on. “Mateo wait, slow down… who?” “Her name is Celeste, Celeste Harwood she looks a lot like…………. You” Mateo trailed off and stared at Celestine. “Nah, I mean that can’t be you’ve been sleep for like forever, no offense but even if that kid lived, they probably would be dead by now” he waved his hand and scrolled in his phone. “I am trying to find a picture of her” “unless, hypothetically speaking my child went on to live a full life, married….kids… But wait her and Vlad?” “Yeah, they dated back when I lived with him or at least I think they did? She was having a rough time when I met her but she’s been great I actually just went to her wedding, she married some guy named………..oh shit” “Mateo, you have to warn her about Vlad” Celestine Insisted and ran out the room and Mateo followed her. “He’s harmless, if I was able to beat him up, and I told him if he touches her again ill kill him” “You don’t know your father like I do, you’ve seen him upset, but you haven’t seen what he’s hiding inside”
Celeste’s POV
“Excuse me ma’am, I am so sorry you look so familiar I thought you might be someone I know” “Oh, it’s fine, I can’t say you look familiar to me unfortunately” she eyes him, not recognizing him at all “but to be fair I am new to the neighborhood! Pleased to make your acquaintance Mr. ??”“Oh, my dear! Please call me William,” he reaches his hand out for Celeste to shake. “William Harwood"
