To my stealth t-bois and Enby friends #bindingwithsportsbras
Heeeeeyyy. So a while back I tried to make a post about these and it disappeared so I'm going to try again.
Target has a bunch of new "sports wear" right now from JoyLab. Here's some I snapped pics of over a month ago.
We finally had room in our budget (not really but we needed clothes) and I got to try these on. I ended up coming home with the bottom middle shirt and an all dark grey version of the top left.
From the designs and the way they're made it looks like JoyLab was taking queues from gymnastics style outfits (you can really tell by the top right one). In order of binding strength the top right one (which I also found in blue and white) has the stiffest material on the front and I would say got me the flattest. They were no goes for me only because too tight and my fibro acts up.
The top left is definitely the middle point and one of the ones I brought home. It wears more like a binder than any sports bra I've ever had.
I don't normally block my face but the dysphoria is kicking my ass this morning.
Not excessive binding, not any where like a binder but a good middle point. If you're in a position where you can't get a real binder or can't wear one for medical reasons but could wear something slightly less constricting, this could be a good option. I'm glad they had it in grey when I went back for them finally.
The other one I got is the bottom middle. That one and the blue one on the left are more like spandex shirts. I cannot bind every day, I can't even wear sports bras every day, some days my body just can't handle it. So I've been wearing regular cotton tank tops under my normal shirt. Sometimes it's fine, other times, like yesterday, I have a freak out at work because BOOOOOOOBS. These are good options. The spandex is strong enough to reduce casual jiggling and light enough that I don't foresee much sweating being done unless I'm actually doing something strenuous, and then at that point IT'S EXCERSISE GEAR! So no big worry there. The only one I didn't try on was the bottom right. Based on how it felt on the hanger, probably a mid point between the sports bra and the shirt that I brought home. I wasn't interested because I just didn't like the shape.
So yeah. Things that are not actually bras that are found at your friendly neighborhood Target store.
