No Turning Back
Single Effect:Â Bind on Attack [15%] (1 Turn) & Damage Increase [10%]
MLB Effect:Â Bind on Attack [15%] (1 Turn) & Damage Increase [15%]
TLDR: "No Turning Backâ is a bit of a double edged sword, and needs to be used with careful consideration. It has a powerful effect and can increase the damage you do, but that potential is a bit random and itâs just as likely to screw you over if not used carefully. However, this memoria is also fun so that is a major plus. "No Turning Backâ is exclusive to the Memorable Flower gacha.Â
Review:Â "No Turning Backâ is a useful three-star memoria, although youâll want to be careful where and when you use it. First, an explanation of its two effects:
Bind is a Status Ailment that will stun the target, make said target take 80% increased damage from its weak element, and also be unable to heal. This gives it two ways to increase damage on the enemy target: through its DOT, and by letting you increase damage from the enemyâs counter element. Damage Increase and Damage Up are essentially the same effect: they both increase the damage done on actual attacks, or in other words, they increase damage after taking into account your buffs and the enemyâs buffs. However they count separately for the gameâs calculations, and that means they can stack together. Damage Increase is generally easier to find than Damage Up.
So from what one can see, "No Turning Backâ has a lot of potential for increasing damage beyond its Damage Increase effect-- if used on a character whose element counters the enemy, or with a buff such as âDamage Up Versus Enemies Affected With Status Ailments,â then you can increase the damage your characters do really quickly in addition to shutting down the enemyâs attacks.
However.
The issue here is that 15% is rather low and that you canât predict when the Bind will go off, and that it only lasts for one turn. This makes capitalizing on its potential for boosting damage more difficult. For one, you canât force Bind to be applied, and two, you canât change strategies once it is, because by the time your turn comes back up the Bind will have worn off.
Another thing to note here is that the actual attack that applies Bind isnât going to be held to the element counter or the Status Ailment Damage Up effect-- so if the Bind goes off on the end of the turn, then you wonât get any extra damage out of it.
Another issue with this memoria is the possibility of Bind going off at the wrong times. For example, if you used this in Mirrors, there is the possibility of it binding enough targets to set up the enemy for a puella combo, making it more likely for you to lose. This isnât a concern as much in PVE situations, but itâs still possible for the Bind to go off on an inopportune attack and cause you some problems.
However.
Seeing Bind go off on enemies can be very fun and exciting, and one canât be blamed for making chaotic choices sometimes. Follow your heart here-- can you use this memoria responsibly? Will you usher in your own demise just to see Bind go off on some pesky familiars? I cannot judge you, because I promise I would make the same choice-- woe be to all the enemies on my path and my terrifying 15% Bind chance.
In all seriousness, this memoria can be useful for setting up extra damage and for trying to protect your characters, but just be mindful of where you use it. You can put this on your supports to spice up your Followerâs battles, if you wish.
Lastly, I checked in with the Big Discord to see if you could use this memoria in conjunction with another passive Bind memoria (or passive Bind Spirit Enhancement) and some research was done!
(This individual wanted to remain anonymous. Thanks so much to them for looking into this!)
But, essentially this means that Bind chance can stack. So if you want to increase your chances at binding your enemies, you can use "No Turning Backâ in addition to another memoria or Spirit Enhancement.
For most NA players who started over on JP, you wonât have access to any of the passive Bind memoria, which are all limited and unlikely to be rerun. But several characters such as Chiharu, Seika, Hanna, Chisato, and others have passive Bind as part of their Spirit Enhancement, and you could double up with this memoria.Â
