Level of Development (LOD), also known as a Life-cycle BIM tool, is a set of industry standards that enables the AEC industry to properly and clearly document, articulate, and specify Building Information Modeling (BIM) contents.

LOD specifies the content (geometric information, structured data, and linked documents) and reliability of BIM elements at various stages of construction project development.
