Billy doesn’t even mind Constantine, personally, and he knows Constantine’d be totally fine to handle most of the magic shit with or without anybody else around anyway. He knows the League does mind Constantine, though, and knows the League definitely doesn’t wanna deal with Constantine for literally every single magic problem that comes up. He especially knows the League doesn't wanna deal with Constantine for literally every single magic problem that comes up for the next six years.

And, like, Zatanna has a job and tour dates and an actual career involving actual time-sensitive commitments and probably an actual credit score to maintain and stuff. So yeah, it’d definitely have to be Constantine.

. . . though honestly if the League is gonna keep trying to trick him into agreeing to stay in somebody's seventeenth bedroom, they definitely deserve it being Constantine. They definitely, definitely deserve it being Constantine.

Actually, they deserve it being Circe or Black Adam, but Billy's not gonna be that petty.

It's so cute and I think it works so well.

Cause i think Damian has a hard time connecting to people who are less mature than him.

Billy is the perfect balance of world worn and hopeful.

He knows what it's like to be terrified for your life, to think for sure you were going to die, and even to wish you could join those who were dead (less suicidal more like "I miss my parents").

He knows all of those feelings and yet still believes in hope, love, and the power of friendship.

He is the perfect balance to Damain who is learning to believe all that stuff.

Billy isnt naïve but he also isnt cynical, Damian really appreciates that and it helps him balance.

Billy isnt an overwhelming scorching sun, but a nice even casting of heat over sand as the sun sets.

If Billy could only love one thing, he would pick Damian's smile.

Not his scowl he adorns when things don't go his way (which is often). Not his self-satisfactory smirk when things do go his way. Not the pout he protests the existence of. But the soft smile he has when thinking about Titus and Alfred the Cat. The one so genuine he can't suppress it.

If Damian could only love one thing, it would not be any aspect of Billy Batson.

I think Ra's would approve of Billy, especially since they've met in canon (pretty sure, not 100% though) more than Billy and Damian have [well. Ra's knows the Wizard, ik that for sure.] since they're part of this immortals thingy. well the Wizard is, and Captain Marvel is like his delegate

so anyway. i think Ra's would lose in a fight against Captain Marvel, and he knows that. So he approves of Damian and Billy...great warriors should be able to depend on one another, like in ancient times (ras is old as fuck so. He's extra traditional). ergo Ra's, and Talia, would approve of Billy.

And! Since he's a JL member, and Batman does respect Captain Marvel a lot, Bruce would also approve of Billy

Even supes would bc he knows Billy's secret identity and he knows the kid is pure and kind (leading me. into the wonder of damibillyjon bc Clark trusts his kid to be friends w Billy and Damian bc it's good to have people around who you don't have to keep secrets from)

there's even more parallels in that they both know what it's like to not have a home/not know what a home means

the LOA wasn't really home to Damian, and even the Manor was hostile for the first years of living there. It took ages for him to find that sense of belonging (mainly through Billy and Jon!!)

Billy was homeless since he was young, always running. He never had a safe home, at least not one that lasted very long, until he met the shazamily (FREDDY MY GOAT) and finally had people on his side.

Both of them know that feeling, and both of them could find solace in the other that they won't leave. They are each other's home.

i especially love the idea that ra’s knows that captain marvel could take him in a right. because yeah. that makes sense. and of course he wants a good warrior for his grandson 🤠
