I feel like you would have like Billy hatcher. It's a fun game and Billy Hatcher is a good character.
I never played it!
When I was a kid we rented this game out from the library...
Didn't have an Eye-Toy though, and when I realised we couldn't play it I cried so much that we had to go back and rent out this instead...
And that was probably the start of my love of Sonic.
Anyway, whenever I think of Billy Hatcher that's what I think of...
This ask came at the most perfect time though, cause last night I was playing Shinobi (2002), and I'm still in a PS2-era, Sega-ish sorta mood. I'll check it out, and if I remember to I might post something about it!
Has a game ever genuinely changed how you think about something?

My love for games widely forgotten, or considered bad, like Billy Hatcher, Star Fox Adventures, Tetris Attack, and Pokemon Sun & Moon taught me (or perhaps just reminded me) that the opinions of others, popular zeitgeist, or popular consensus shouldn't impact my enjoyment of media or experiences.
Whether it be due to nostalgia like the prior two, or just scratching some sort of unexplainable itch for me in my adulthood like the latter two, those games (and many more that fall into these camps) made me happy, and that's not something I should discredit just because others tell me I should.

thinking way to hard about a billy hatcher 2 concept where the kids are like 15-17 and they all collectively think that the chicken event was a dream they all had but it took the crows that long to come up with a new plan and the recruited another kid to help them in their new plan but since the theme is a day vs night thing we have this other character who is doing her own thing and she's meant to represent the twilight the time before night and day who is purple and she knows Billy and they aren't really friends but they become friends over the course of the game but shes still meant to be a mysterious character.
longish post
So we have Billy, and his friends, another 15-17 year old who probably had a bad childhood and no friends and became the crows friends cause they "treat me like a person" or "they listen to me and give me the power to do what i want"
Im imagining that how it starts, like that cutscene in the beganing of the game, it's a older Billy and we see him and it's supposed to convey to us that he's been having dreams about his childhood adventure and he doesn't know if the chicken vs crows thing he did as a kid was real or not and his friends all have the same feeling but different opinions on it.
Rolly is positive about it and is on the "it could be real but also we could have all just had the same dream"
Chick is like "I REMEMBER AND IT HAPPENED
Bantam is like "i think it's just a crazy dream we all had"
and Billy is on the fence or thinks he himself might be going crazy or thats the idea it's supposed to make us feel cause they don't talk and i want to keep them all silent.
the chickens summoned them back one random tuesday, almost the same way except this time the crow is after Billy and he's running from it and the chicken he saved in the first game is older and saves him this time but then it gets hurt and he saves it again and this transports them all back to the world.
Your task with doing the same thing you did in the other game accept every stage has a mini boss of that other character i mentioned that the crows are using.
Every stage also has a twilight stage where you have to help the purple girl with a task or you have to work against her before she can do X thing and you have to do it before her and it's always just a competitive thing with her but eventually she comes over to Billy's side.
That characters backstory is nobody was ever nice to him and the crows were nice to him so he does what they want him to because thats what friends do, he has the right attitude but he needs to understand that the crows are doing bad things to the chickens by taking their daylight or whatever.
i don't remember the lore i need to replay the game.
i think that this can be the exception of the one character who gets to talk that is human, i think this dark crow guy and the purple twilight girl get to talk but Billy and everyone else don't.
i also think that it should include more lore about the chickens and crows (if it didn't in the orginal game??? i have not played this game since i was a child so correct me if im wrong)
