     she’s pulling her earrings off  & setting them on the vanity.    they’ve both been gone most of the night at a gala.    one of the only nights this week where they play sam russo & bruce wayne:    the world’s most watched couple.    no, the rest of the week has been batman & the reporter who seems to keep ending up nearby.     but now, they just get to be each other.   “  my feet are killing me. tell me to remind valentina to give me a break on the heels. maybe i really am just meant to be like two feet shorter than you.  ”

        everyone's watching   —    but she isn't.     her eyes are focused on his own.    eyes that have known her for years.     her pink painted lips are curved into a smile as the words leave his lips.     (    i do, he says.    )     her heart is going to pop out of her chest, she thinks.     how lucky she is to have him.     to have bruce.     then the minister turns to her,    &   brooke can hardly wait to say the words.        "   i do.    forever, i do.   "     she says softly.    intimately.    the first time at least.    on the forever, she clears her throat   &   says it louder.     for everyone to hear.       that's when a hand is put on her hip,   &    she's pulled in.     a kiss like none-other.     it's soft   ...    intimate   ...   familiar.      but also new in a way she never imagined.     when they pull back, brooke grins up at him.     "   now, you're really stuck with me.  "

       it's been days since they've seen each other in earnest.      brooke's been trapped at the daily planet    ...     chasing down leads at every angle.     by the time brooke makes to back to gotham,    bruce is already long gone     (    so is the cowl & the cape.    )     but now, it's a night where the city is covered     (    thanks to tim    )    &    the married couple can truly enjoy themselves.       &    enjoy themselves they do.     the second they are alone,    bruce has her pressed to the wall of their bedroom.     within seconds, they fall back into an easy chemistry.     brooke jumps up slightly    —   &    bruce catches her.     her legs are around his waist.    when she pulls away to breathe, that's when he lets then fall down on the bed behind him   ...   brooke falling on top of him.    it earns a giggle from her.   “   well, hello to you too,   ”    she says against his lips.     "  i missed you.   "

              this is a little awkward.     if she opens the door fully, brooke will reveal the handsome billionaire, bruce wayne     ---    who is very smugly trying to hide a smirk, by the way.     he’d heard about spencer from brooke    ...    about their previous toxicity.     spencer kind of really did bring out the worst in her.     never once had she thought about throwing a plate at bruce   ...    although bruce laughed when he’d been told.      “   spencer    ---   uh, i have someone over,    ”   &   that’s when brooke opened the door to reveal the world’s most perfect man    ---    bruce wayne himself.

          a soft smile is on her features.     by night, she’s been up around gotham, getting into all sorts of trouble.      by day though   ...    she’s been messily sitting in the wayne library, tending to it.     at this point, the building holds as much as her soul as it does martha wayne’s, she thinks.    the question bruce asks her when he stops by   (   as he usually does   )   is much more than their normal flirty banter.    dinner?   as in... a date?   “   ---   hm?   dinner?   sounds like you’re trying to distract me from another night out on the town, mister wayne.  ”     it’s a joke.   she’s confided in bruce about where she goes at night.     “  but   ...   lucky for you   ...    i’m starving,   &   you’re way more interesting than anything intergang has to offer.   ”
