the way out of this mountain region seems streching along forever; luckily there was only one way, so no need to worry about getting lost!

Happy bicyclists & motorcyclists! Chances are, if you are pedaling through Kyrgyzstan, anywhere you go, however remote it may seem, as long as you stay on the road long enough, you will be very likely to run into other travellers on two wheels - be it bicycle or motorbike. And it's amazingly surprising how easy it is to develop a feeling that all cyclists are just like from one big family! & I bet these two fellows must have had an awesome journey through Kyrgyzstan as well!

29/06/2013. Last year's today in memory. Marching into the mountains.

this time last year 28/06/2013, central Kyrgyzstan. in the middle of vast dryness, dotted with short grasses and wild flowers. Lake seemed not very far away yet travelling with bicycles required us to think more than just the nominal distance. Going over to the lake then coming back to the mainroad plus a brief stay on the lakeside would definitely consume rest of the day; hence, our problem would naturally arrive which would be short of food and water.

one-year bike touring makes me feel much older, presumably more mature as well along with increase of knowlege of oneself and this world; one sign is, constantly, I would go back to photo files and check out what we were doing on the same date last year. Here are two taken on 26/06/2013, somewhere in the mountains of northwest Kyrgyzstan when we were passing a village cemetery site. May those underground rest with peace and those of us still aboveground live in the present.

Here we are, at kapan, taking the first hotel since we left yerevan 4 days ago, washing off millions layers of sweat and dust, getting ready for the last pass. Very soon, if everything goes on well, we will finally arrive at Iran, the land of unbelievable hospitality and boundless flat flat land.
