BIGJAW. The jaws are big.
Made to give kaiju representation to the Short Tailed Sea Tyrant clade of retrosaurs, Bigjaw was designed to capture what makes their real life inspirations so fascination: namely, the idea of these huge sea predators unlike anything alive today. I wanted this guy to have a sense of bulk that goes beyond what is normal for my kaiju, especially when it comes to those titular big jaws. I also wanted it to feel like something that would give you nightmares if you saw it coming out of the water - sea monsters aren’t used for horror nearly enough.
Of course, Bigjaw’s enormous size is in part inspired by the oversized Liopleurodon from Walking With Dinosaurs. It’s name, on the other hand, was inspired by this:
