When you learn cycling, you learn the art of balancing yourself to drive safe on the saddle. This in turn helps you balance yourself flawlessly with nature and real life situations.

The road to maximizing comfort and performance on your bicycle may begin with an upgrade to your saddle.  However, with so many options available, the task of determining a suitable saddle choice can become quite overwhelming.   We believe that choosing a saddle is a personal experience because everybody's ischial tuberosities, or sit bones to us layfolk,  are situated differently.  The only person who knows what feels right for you...is YOU!  On top of that, you’re not a Rockefeller. We think dropping hundreds of dollars blindly on saddle after saddle until you find one that works, is just plain silly.  So, in order to ease the impact, on your bottom and your purse, we offer a saddle test ride program to help you find the right fit. 

We’ll let you borrow a test ride saddle for up to two weeks, absolutely free of charge. 

Here’s how the program works.  

First, our staff will listen to all of your needs, likes, and dislikes of your current saddle. Too firm? Not wide enough? Want a longer one?  Let us know and we’ll offer a selection from the many in-stock models and options located on our test ride saddle wall display.  

We currently offer test ride saddles from the following brands: fi’zi:k, WTB, and Brooks cambium.

Once you choose, we’ll ask that you allow us to make a copy of your identification and credit/debit card payment information to keep on file, just in case you take a ride to Mexico with no plan to return.  

Then, we’ll install the test ride saddle on your bicycle while you wait.  You’re welcome to run across the street, grab a coffee from Red Hook coffee & tea, and then browse all of the pretty things in our shop.  Our unique selection of bikes, bags, and apparel will certainly keep you entertained for a while. 

Next, ride your bicycle.  That’s right, go about your daily life and routine. Ride to work, school, go training, shopping, or for a long overnight ride. We want you to have the opportunity to fully experience how the saddle feels “in the wild” so you’ll know if it’s right for you.  

Ride the saddle as much as you like, but keep in mind that someone else may be waiting to try the same model.  So, we ask that all test ride saddles be returned within two weeks.  Anything longer and we’ll start hounding your voice mailbox and email.  Besides, you probably won’t want the entire hungry shop staff buying Bánh mì sandwiches and pizza with your credit card, so be sure to return the saddle on time.  

Once the saddle is returned, you can decide if you’d like to try another.
