it’s really interesting that neil newbon said that ascended astarion loses the flamboyancy and swishiness because i had noticed that and wondered if it was an intentional choice.
and as he says, it’s because ascended astarion is both fundamentally changed and completely mask off, and additionally it’s also kind of impossible to ignore queer readings about how the cycle of abuse ties itself to conforming to societal norms, and how the false safety that trying to conform offers is so linked to the false safety that ascension offered to astarion.
