Model United Nations Part II (Creativity)
Model United Nations has kickstarted my drive to become more outspoken as I’ve mentioned before in my previous posts. Hence the reason I decided to continue this CCA as well as to teach the students that are trying this CCA for the first time.
In this term’s MUN CCA, the focus was drawn towards conserving sea life and pollutions in the ocean etc. This is because of the then-upcoming Borneo Global Issues Conference (BGIC) that was held at ISB. We were practising some of the resolutions that were going to be put forward at the conference.

BORNEO GLOBAL ISSUES CONFERENCE
6 - 9 MARCH 2015 - YEAR 12, TERM 2
The Borneo Global Issues Conference was interesting for me. The actual debate wasn’t that challenging, but it was odd to represent a ‘small’ country again - I was Myanmar, after months of chairing and representing Russia. There’s a lot more research involved with being smaller countries, and it’s generally not as much fun (you can’t declare war on anyone, for example).
The part where I most got to practice my skills was in the run-up to the conference. As chair of our school committee, it was our job to prepare everyone as much as possible so I delivered a presentation on ‘How to MUN’ for a lot of new people at school who wanted to try going to a conference. It was interesting to take a step back and help people prepare.
