Imagine

You're walking down a street and you noticed a car following you. Scared, you walked faster to try to get away.

But the car drives faster and caught up to you. The window rolled down, revealing the boys, Ryan and Shane.

Shocked, you approached them on excitement.

"Get in buckaroo! We have a surprise for you" Shane said.

'How do they know me?' You ask yourself.

But you still enter because it's the boys, duh.

Once they started driving, you looked out the window in horror.

Across the street, you see two people, Shane and Ryan walking.

i don't necessarily know what i based it on, but i had the idea in mind that they have sleepovers and game nights on ryan's roof on friday nights. they agree to play the game of "haha whoever catches feelings first loses".

but ryan, being the "no homo" kinda guy, obviously means it as a joke, but never explicitly says it. shane takes it seriously, and really really wants to win. but you know how shane is. the second he starts thinking about ryan in any romantic sense, he catches feelings.

BUT. shane being the competitive guy he is, keeps it a secret so that he has a chance of winning. they end up getting drunk one night (for no other reason than tests) and shane ends admitting it. ryan's, of course, taken aback and kicks shane out and yells at him, making shane automatically assume that ryan's either homophobic, or just doesn't like him. in ryan's case, he just goes into a big gay panic, and automatically assumes that shane's just joking, and gets mad because he actually might like shane?
