@dumb8itch Okay, that’s just a single response, we can’t take anything from that and you know it, lmao.

and @bfacebplace that’s so wild to me. I always grew up in social circles that have taken is as an obvious, given thing that ‘okay’ is friendly and casual, ‘ok’ (with nothing else) is annoyed, ‘k’ is furious, and any of them with a period after designates some level of annoyance relative to the version of ‘okay’ it comes after. And to really clarify it, I always try to do say something like “Okay, that works for me,” or something that further qualifies the ‘okay’ so it doesn’t come across as curt in any way. This is wild.

Of course I agree with her lmfao! Specifically though, "ok" is neutral and casual. But "okay" is negative when used in texts, conveys an extra Sassy tone

I think saying that things are ‘situated’ also is just more accurate, maybe? When you say something is ‘political’ in the sense of saying ‘language is political’, what you’re trying to get across is that some political actions in the past have shaped the possible ways that language can present itself in our current situation. Saying it’s political is kind of empty, though. What’s important is that these ‘political’ things are situated - that is, determined.

It seems what you’re really trying to get across by saying something is political is that the thing in question has a history. But by labeling this as ‘politics’ instead of saying ‘this thing has a history, it’s situated’, you’re actually removing the political part from the thing in question (in the sense of the political events [and possibly non-political ones!] that made the thing questionable in the first place).
