I finally uploaded my BFA Thesis Animation to Youtube! Wasnât sure if I was ready to put it out into the world but I think itâs time. Here are the model sheets for each of the characters in the video.Â
Cyre Lives is an introduction to a larger story that I have been exploring for some time now, called The Talon of Cyre. Magic is a threat to the villagersâ safety, or so they think. Banni, a resident of the village, comes into her powers and is ostracized by her family, running away out of fear. This project takes place after she has encountered a group of magic users who take her in, and she tells the story of why she had to run away.
I definitely learned a lot about the animation process in working on this project. This took an entire school year with just one person working on it. There are a lot of details to refine and make cohesive with everything else in order to reach the quality I was aspiring towards. Also there are several themes/messages that I wanted to include which donât come across right away in this introduction, so I hope to continue this story in some form of medium and tell it in its entirety.
Special thanks to Brian Danh who voiced Theodoric, and @khalularhider who did the lovely mutant bird noises you hear in the video! Also subscribe to my Youtube Channel if you like :) Iâd love to hear feedback on any of my videos!

This week is my BFA thesis show (sadly online only) and below is the caption provided by my university Art department:
âThis week we are showing paintings by Tori Allenâs show âAn Exploration of Self.â First up, âFall in Sienaâ Oil on acrylic wash on canvas.

âThe work I have done over the past year was inspired by my interest in art history. My paintings call attention to the abstractionists of the 1950s such as Jackson Pollock and Helen Frankenthaler, and more modern painters such as Cecily Brown and Joan Mitchell. Just as those before me, an integral part of my work is both the size and physicality of the paintings. The large scale allows the viewer to lose themselves within the colors and textures presented. As an intuitive painter, my life informs my work, making it diaristic in nature. Although my paintings help communicate my personal experiences, I want them to evoke the memories of my audience as well. Just as Mark Rothko once said, âI [too] am interested in expressing the big emotions-tragedy, ecstasy, doomâŠâ I want to paint my humanity and allow a human reaction in turn. Unlike many before me, I have given names to my paintings, many of which are titles of songs that I connect with in relation to the work. I donât feel that this takes away from the viewers experience but gives them an opening into my psyche. I found a voice through painting that others could understand and resonate with.â @what_is_a_tori

Inktober day 11: A concept This is a concept of one of my characters from my BFA animation project. The character is the physical representation of what anxiety feels like. I eventually scrapped this guy and started over because I decided he would be too hard to animate. Makes for a cool looking dude tho đ€
