he literally obsessed with you but still gives you space if you need 

Ash had completely cut Arthur’s trigger finger as far as I can tell and Arthur cant use a gun at all with that hand due to his fingers being re-attached, that alone must have been a mess. 

Ash took Arthur’s turf by gained a big following with the street kids, he gain respect, they respect Ash and they fear Arthur. You cant be a good boss with fear alone. Arthur hates that and the fact that Ash was basically Golzine’s pet. ( despite that Ash never asking Golzine for help , he could have but he never did ). Arthur also always figured Ash did use Golzines help to achieve his gang goals and was surprised in the manga when they told him Ash did everything himself, I think knowing how good Ash is at what he dose just pisses Arthur off even further.

We have no idea how Arthur ended up as a delinquent gang boss or what his childhood was like but I cant imagine it was pretty or easy. 

You are mostly on point Anon ,the real reason is never given but from what we can conclude from Angel Eyes that takes place when Ash was 14 years old. Arthur has sent guys to kill him even then…and there is another thing that happened when Ash was 14.

in Vol.8 we get this scene 

Ash tells Eiji about a girl he liked and potentially might have loved when he was 14, but she was killed because she was associated with Ash. He failed to save her , she died because of him and Ash feels guilty. This girl is never mentioned again ,but why was she mentioned now a night before the big showdown with Arthur ?

Then in Vol.9 we get this scene with Arthur

Look at how ready Arthur is to do all this , its personal , its very personal and we get a moment where Ash is feeling guilt for something that happened between them in the past , so what do we know that happened in Ash’s past that he feels guilty about and that we found out in the manga about recently ? …the killed girl. 

Hear me out Anon there is a fan-theory going around that the girl that was killed was somehow connected to Arthur, his little sister maybe?. 

For all the reason that Arthur has to hate Ash with this we are given a deeply personal one and it would explain why Ash just didn’t kill Arthur earlier , he felt guilty, Ash didn’t want to kill the brother of a girl he liked and even when that same girl died because of him and Arthur was out to get him , Ash didn’t want to do it until it was this serious and necessary.

Ok so these are my personal sexuality head canons for the following Banana Fish characters. ( I went from answering this seriously to loosing it half way threw , I apologies )

Ash Lynx - Gay - Asexual - only has feelings for Eiji.

Ash loves Eiji a lot but due to his trauma it would take him a lot of time to recover before he is ready in doing anything remotely sexual with anyone. Ash is comfortable with Eiji being close to him an he is Ok when when it comes to being touched by Eiji. ( Ash even welcomes it )

As for sexuality remember that scene where Ash wakes up in the hospital surrounded by all those gorgeous nurses who try to give him any sort of attention and Ash’s main response is “Yeah but where is Eiji ?” ( if Ash’s proprieties and sexual preference were not clear till now , then I don’t know what is )

I know when Ash was 14 years old he mention there was a girl he might have loved ,that relationship I keep seeing it as Ash’s asexual side. He might have loved her but was still heavily traumatizes back then so nothing happened. 

In the manga his sexual preference is aimed at men and never have I seen him show an interest in a woman. One time Ash says that he has a easier time dealing with men because he is used to them and knows really well what they are all about , that is why he is surrounded by his boys all the time.

Eiji Okamura - just gay for Ash - Let me just point out that before Eiji meets Ash he really wasn’t sure , he mostly meh about his own sexuality until he fell head over heals in love with Ash and that changed everything for him. I am not sure that Eiji is attracted to men or women in general, I would also say his is Asexual but its a bit complicated then that.

Max Lobo - Bisexual - “Was pretty straight until he meets Ash and nurse Barbara happened ” was what I originally wanted to say but I think Max might have been Bi before that he just wasn’t so sure. 

I have a head-canon where I am pretty convinced both he and Griffith where very open minded and talked about all kinds of things when they where in the army together and they got along really well together, the topics of different sexuality’s and there own insecurities where also among them . Also Jessica knew her husband was Bi long before Max ever realized it himself.  

Arthur Frederic - furiously Gay -  I have a theory that Arthur represses his own sexuality, tries to block it out but just gets more frustrated in the process. At first he was set on killing Ash and trying not to feel a damn thing while doing it but undoubtedly gets weak in the knees every time he is close to Ash…and he hates it. Not to mention that Arthur would hate the thought of him and gay feeling for Ash Lynx , he would kill a man just for making a joke about that. Ever noticed how its easier for him send other people to kill Ash then he doing it himself in until the last minute…also he took his sweet ass time torturing Ash as a payback for his fingers but the truth was he just enjoyed seeing Ash make those faces in pain and sounds every time Arthur cut him, yes Arthur in fact dose get off to this. 

Shorter Wong - Bi - He can say he is straight all he wants but Shorter masturbated ( multiple times ) to a picture of a person who looks A LOT like Ash and that was the basis for their friendship and he even admitted that if he was gay he would gladly hit Ash like a damn truck …you know Shorter its fine ,a lot a people are gay for Ash ,not all of them good but you can be the secret exception and tell Ash he looks damn fine, Ash wouldn’t be surprised and would appreciate it coming from Shorter and relentlessly tease him about it, like all good friends do.

Yut-Lung - gay - So very beautiful and gay and likes to seduce the men around him to get what he wants, also manipulating people is fun. On the how gay are you for Ash? list ,Yut-Lung would be supper gay for Ash. Also he has questionable feelings for Blanca when Blanca is nice to him and has no idea what to do about it ( just acts awkwardly ) . Due to his drinking habits he Is conflicted between slapping Sing or kissing him when he is drunk and when they argue…he never acts on those either tho. 

Sing - gay - Sing never ever strikes me as a guy who was interested in women , for some reason it never crossed my mind he might be attracted to anything but men. He himself isn’t fully aware of this yet tho since he was too buys staying alive ..give him a few years, he will get there. 

Blanca - Straight but Bi  - Ok so by all accounts Blanca is the straightest man in this bunch but I have the feeling that he likes compliments no matter who is giving them as long as they are as good as his own. I can imagine Blanca flirting with men just fine , he just keeps telling himself its only women who interest him.

If by some miracle Blanca were to run into a very well dressed adult Ash Lynx asking him out on a fancy dinner , there would be no doubt in Blancas mind he himself is so very much Bi.
