Are you feminist? I am 95% sure that you are although you may not consider yourself to be because guess what, that is exactly what it turn out to be for me. I was very unsure of whether or not I call myself a feminist simply because I didn't necessarily know the whole concept behind it, just more of the idea about and that feminism is primarily a movement by individuals who fight for the rights and equality that tend to affect mostly women throughout history and the present..

In the reading, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie focused on the huge barrier on the gendered nature of economic power. She also stated "Being a feminist means understanding and acknowledging the fact the Sexism exists". I enjoyed the way she related alot of factors related to sexism with Africa, sexism was a constant thing in Nigeria. A lot of times, men presumed to be breadwinners, or that they hold an economic power, as well as others would assume that if a woman had money it was because the "money comes from the man". In Nigeria its assumed that any woman are expected to do the same work for less pay and they learn not to speak up for themselves for fear or being called "aggressive"....

The disparity of the status between men and women tend to be the cause of gender inequality, which people fail to acknowledge. In today's society, men and women think, act differently and accordingly because of society and how they socialize. Each gender acquires different identities and  traditions in which they were taught from a young age and are expected to meet certain standards in order for them to be accepted as they are or lets just who others want them to be.
